Hugo von Essen is an analyst and project leader at the Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS), focusing on EU policy towards Eastern Europe; the South Caucasus; and Russia-China relations. Hugo has previously worked at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Hugo has a background in political science studies at Uppsala University, and has also studied Russian, psychology, history of ideas, and law. He has published academic and policy articles in various outlets.
